MENTOR PROGRAM

Our Mentor Program

Ice hockey, as a complex sport, demands many challenges and perseverance from players in order to develop.

Through our mentor program we track the development of players, ensuring they have the right opportunities to join teams and showcase themselves at drafts. We also place special emphasis on helping our talents reach foreign ice hockey academies and specialised boarding schools.

Our goal is for mentor program participants, regardless of age, to reach the highest level of ice hockey.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Career development packages

An ice hockey career doesn't happen by chance. With the right professional background, deliberate development and continuous feedback, a player's progress can be faster, more transparent and more effective.

Our career development program aims to give young players precise guidance for their improvement. Through match video analysis, individual development plans and continuous professional support, we help every player know exactly what to work on to reach the next level.

The packages offer different levels of support: player tracking, sports nutrition and mental preparation, mentoring and career management.

There is also a dedicated training setup option, where we define by age group how much and in which areas it is worth training. A player's development is tracked with detailed development cards, so that the work is measurable and intentional.

Our goal is for every player to receive the professional support that allows them to get the most out of themselves, all the way to the international level.

Karsai Ferenc

Jokerit U18 · AAA

Karsai Ferenc

Helsinki, Finland - born 2009

Attila Orbán has led Ferenc's individual hockey skill development throughout his career. Now in his third year at Jokerit Helsinki, the 2009-born defender was the youngest on the Hungarian U20 side that won the Division I/B World Championship in Milan. He leads Jokerit's table-topping U18 team with 4 goals and 27 assists in 30 games - 19th in the entire Finnish U18 scoring charts.

Czabafy Mátyás

Jokerit U16 · AAA

Czabafy Mátyás

Helsinki, Finland - born 2011

Trained personally by Attila Orbán in Hungary, Mátyás moved to Helsinki at 12 to chase his NHL dream. The nearly 180cm defender was named best defender at an Espoo tournament just months after arriving, and has worked his way up to AAA level with Jokerit. His goal is to be selected in the 2029 NHL Draft.

With IHP57's support, Hunor earned trial spots at Finland's top clubs and chose HPK Hämeenlinna. Born in 2013 in Dunaharaszti, he now plays U13 AAA hockey for one of Finland's premier hockey organisations. Type 1 diabetes doesn't slow him down: he placed 3rd at the 2025 Riga Cup with a Finnish select team and competed at the legendary 66th Pee Wee Cup in Québec.

HPK U16 · Academy

Csaba Levente

Hämeenlinna, Finland - born 2011

Born in 2011, Levente started playing hockey at age six with Szigeti Bikák and has trained personally with Attila Orbán for years. His performances were so convincing that HPK Academy signed him for the following U16 season.

TESTIMONIALS

What our players and parents say.

Géza was hooked from the very first session. Afterwards, he made us watch videos of Attila all evening. During one practice, all I could hear was 'Gézu, not like that - Gézu, wrong - Gézu, that's not it.' I thought for sure he'd never want to come back. But at the end, Attila walked over to him and said: 'Do you realise you were training with kids two or three years older than you? You did a great job.' That was all it took. This is the balance very few coaches have: he teaches, he shapes character, and he builds mental strength.

Peti has been going to private sessions with Orbán Attila, Orbi, at least once a week for a year and a half. What does he learn? Hockey - on-ice and dry-land training, stick technique, shooting sessions, skating technique and tactical training. But he also learns what it means to be a hockey player. It's not just training, it's upbringing - shaping him into a hockey player: how to behave on the ice, in the locker room and outside it; what to eat in general, before, during and after games and practices; and everything else to pay attention to. To be determined and brave, to not fear challenges, to take risks wisely, and to be persistent. To focus on studying alongside training - because talent is fed not only by hard work on the ice but also by learning, by schoolwork. As his parents, we also see that he's becoming a more open child, that he has more confidence both on and off the ice; that his teammates love and respect him, and so do his classmates. I believe he is on the right path to perhaps one day becoming a hockey player.

With 12 years of experience as a hockey parent, and having witnessed youth hockey in Sweden and America up close, my view is that Attila is a professionally minded, well-prepared person who plans, prepares, and executes his work at a high level. For players to approach or reach the international level, what they get from him is truly essential. Our son Levi summed it up pretty clearly after their very first meeting: 'He's a good coach. I haven't been this tired in a long time.' I'm confident that everything Attila does related to hockey will be successful and of the highest standard, and I hope Levi will have more opportunities to train with him in the future.

Others will write about how much the kids develop technically - I want to highlight something different: the human connections. Whether we're at a game in Jászberény or Érd, I keep noticing my child bumping fists with the opposing team's goalie, chatting between periods, and tapping the ice in respect when someone makes a great save. They're not really rivals - they're friends from camp. As a parent, that might mean even more to me than any technical skill.

On my first session, I was convinced he didn't like me. The next day, to my surprise, he told me he wanted me back - I could come train with him as much as I liked. He ended up becoming one of my favourite coaches and mentors. What I love most is that I barely break a sweat at other rinks in Hungary, but at Attila's I still come away a better skater. I'm faster now, and my skating feels far more confident.

My son burst into tears after his first Orbi session. He had been to many hockey practices before and had dealt with tough workloads, but this was different. The exhaustion, the flood of new challenges, the speed of the older players - it simply got to him. I thought we'd tried but it wasn't his level yet, I reassured him and decided we wouldn't go back. How could I have thought that after just one year of hockey, at such a complex, high-level session, surrounded by so many talented players, my sensitive only child would feel at ease? I was surprised when, after getting home, he calmly announced: we're going again. He doesn't mind being the smallest or the slowest - he wants to be at 'Orbi's master sessions' and skate just like the others.

I've improved enormously through Hockey Pro 57's sessions and camps. I learned what it truly means to work hard. Skill training taught me the value of repetition, and in defensive sessions I picked up things I'd never encountered before. During shooting drills, something finally clicked - I figured out which foot to lift. If you want to improve on the ice, this is the place.

Attila's sessions are nothing like team practice. In a standard team session, everyone runs through five stations in an hour - each doing it their own way. With Attila, someone is always watching: if a movement isn't right, you go back and start over, until it is. There's no slacking allowed; a hundred percent is the baseline. That individual attention is the real key to improvement.

After his very first session, Dávid said he absolutely wanted to come back - he'd learned so much. Every session gives him something: not just technical skills, but real feedback that keeps him motivated. During the dry-training season he came home beaming one day because the coaches said his stick technique had improved enormously. He leaned in and whispered to me: 'Well, it's not from shooting around in the garden!' Thank you for everything you give him.

Attila takes a very comprehensive approach to developing children, tailored to each one's knowledge and physical level. In the upbeat, lively sessions he consistently shares practical tips and advice that are worth their weight in gold. For every task and drill, he clearly and understandably explains why they're doing it and how it will help on the ice, in games. With a keen pedagogical sense, he also strives to pass on the mindset that made him successful. And most importantly, my son loves going to his sessions - because he enjoys himself, has to work hard, and feels it's genuinely developing him.

When ice hockey turned from a hobby into a passion for our child, we realized the need for individual training - that's how we found Attila. With his expertise, consistency, and motivating personality, he quickly became a true role model. He treats every child equally without exception, teaching discipline and sportsmanship alongside hockey. He builds skills brick by brick, and although we’ve only known him for two months, our child’s spectacular progress has already been noticed by others."

Bianka absolutely loves coming to your sessions. She especially appreciates the discipline, the focused attention, and the high standards - knowing that her best is always expected keeps her motivated. As parents, we feel she's exactly where she should be, learning from the very best. We especially value that the discipline begins in the locker room, before she even steps onto the ice. That conscious, focused approach shapes children as both athletes and people.

I first brought Zente to Attila's training on 26 March 2025, when he was 6.5 years old. We had never experienced anything as intense as that session before. I thought that when my son came off the ice he would send me somewhere warmer for bringing him here. When he came off he just said: it was really good. We've been coming to training, camps and grundhoki ever since. Grundhoki was a brilliant idea - fast pace, great players and goalkeepers. Zente really enjoys every session.

Attila is not only an excellent educator but also a determined coach. He brings out the hidden abilities in my child. His sessions would rank among valuable professional training even in the most serious hockey nations. He motivates effectively, and my son is constantly improving under his guidance. A special value in his sessions is that he also passes on the experience gained during his playing career to his students. Since Attila loves hockey, he is also happy to coach our daughters.

Once, Attila called me out to demonstrate a drill for the whole group - he called me Red Helmet, and that made my day. I sweat buckets at every session, but sitting down afterwards feels incredible. I'm proud of myself for making it through every single one.

Because of his playing background, Attila can pass on knowledge that is genuinely useful at the start of a professional career. I appreciate his patience with the children - given his background, it's not something you'd expect.
