On April 24th in Budapest, at the Kisstadion, the first round of the U12 Championship took place. The purpose of the event was to assess the participating players and launch the selection process. The coaching staff - with the full participation of all coaches - evaluated the players together and made the professional decisions collectively.
Each player took part in 1 on-ice training session and played 2 games, which formed the basis for the first-round evaluations. Approximately 200 players in the U12 age group were involved in the process. Three IHP57 teams participated in the tournament, and MAC’s top team was also present.
The selection process is not yet complete: 2-3 further rounds are expected, during which every player will be observed and evaluated again. The goal is to build the most accurate picture possible of each player’s current performance and development level.
It is important to highlight that the system is performance-based: the highest-rated players will secure a stable position, however their ranking may change based on future performance - they can move either up or down.
Registration remains open, and every player is encouraged to join, as everyone will have multiple opportunities to prove themselves. Feedback will be sent to the email address provided during registration.
The aim is to establish a clear, transparent, and performance-based selection system where players can demonstrate their abilities across multiple rounds.
