U14 – Strong Start in the Selection Program

The IHP57 Championship U14 tournament concluded successfully, hosted at the Kisstadion in Budapest. The primary purpose of the tournament was to allow players to showcase their current abilities in a competitive environment, while the coaching staff began the long-term evaluation process.

The MAC championship team and three IHP57 squads took part in the event, giving players the opportunity to prove themselves in a high-caliber environment. The tournament program included one ice training session and five matches.

The overall picture from the matches was highly encouraging. Two games represented an outstanding level even by domestic standards, while the remaining three matches showed performance comparable to Hungary’s top teams — the Top 5 level. The day concluded with an All-Star game, where players selected based on their performances throughout the day had the opportunity to compete against each other.

The coaching staff evaluated every player across multiple criteria. In addition to current performance, game intelligence, the ability to handle competitive situations, attitude, work ethic, and developmental potential all played a key role in the assessment decisions.

It is important to emphasize that this was only the first selection round. Further observation and evaluation events will follow in the coming period, giving every player another opportunity to prove themselves. The goal is not to evaluate the results of a single day, but to identify who is capable of performing and developing at a high level over the long term.

The IHP57 program philosophy is clear: performance comes first. We provide opportunities for young talents and will not hold anyone back for reasons unrelated to their on-ice performance.
